Automatic CU Drywall Profile Roll Forming Production Line

The CU drywall profile roll forming machine is mainly designed to continuously process galvanized steel sheet into different sizes of C-shaped and U-shaped metal profiles.

The production line shown in the video includes the main roll forming machine as well as automatic conveying, profile turning, nesting, counting, stacking and packing systems.

Compared with a basic roll forming machine, this automatic line continues handling the finished profiles after cutting. The profiles leave the forming machine and automatically move into the downstream working stations, reducing manual handling and improving production continuity.

CU Profile Roll Forming Machine

The roll forming machine is the main section of the complete production line.

After the galvanized steel sheet enters the machine, it passes through multiple forming roller stations and is gradually shaped into the required C or U profile.

The machine uses a progressive roll forming process. The galvanized steel sheet is bent step by step through different roller stations instead of being formed in a single operation.

This method helps reduce material deformation, improve profile consistency and minimize problems such as twisting or unstable opening dimensions.

The roller design, forming stations, transmission system and machine-frame dimensions can be customized according to the customer’s profile drawings, sheet thickness and finished-product dimensions.

Automatic Profile Conveying System

After roll forming and length cutting, the finished profiles automatically enter the conveying system.

Conveyor belts, guide rollers and positioning devices control the moving direction and transfer the profiles to the turning, counting and stacking sections.

C and U profiles are normally long and relatively lightweight. Without stable conveying, they may move sideways, collide with machine components or become difficult to arrange.

The automatic conveying system keeps the profiles moving in a consistent direction and helps reduce scratches, friction and impact during material handling.

The conveyor length, width and working height can be customized according to the finished-profile length, production speed and factory layout.

Automatic Profile Turning System

The production line shown in the video is equipped with an automatic profile turning device.

According to the preset working sequence, the system changes the orientation of the C or U profile and transfers it to the required position.

For profiles that need to be nested or arranged in pairs, the automatic turning system can place the profiles in different directions and create a more compact arrangement.

This reduces the need for workers to manually turn and adjust every finished profile. It also provides stable conditions for automatic counting, stacking and packing.

The turning process is completed through the coordinated operation of sensors, pneumatic components and mechanical positioning devices.

Profile Nesting and Arrangement

After turning, the profiles can be nested or arranged according to the selected packing method.

C and U profiles can be positioned in different directions and kept in an orderly arrangement on the conveying platform.

A compact arrangement reduces the space occupied by each bundle and makes the finished profiles easier to store, load into containers and transport.

The nesting method can be adjusted according to the profile shape, finished length and customer’s packing requirements.

Automatic Counting System

Before the profiles enter the stacking station, sensors automatically detect and count each finished piece.

The operator can set the required quantity for each group or bundle through the control system.

When the actual number reaches the preset quantity, the machine completes the current collection cycle and starts the next stacking or packing process.

Automatic counting reduces errors caused by manual checking and is suitable for continuous production and large-volume orders.

Automatic Positioning and Stacking System

The automatic stacking system collects the counted profiles and arranges them according to the preset stacking method.

Positioning, pushing, clamping and lifting mechanisms work together to place every profile in a consistent position.

The automatic system keeps the ends of the profiles properly aligned and improves the uniformity of each finished bundle.

Compared with manual collection, automatic stacking reduces repeated product handling and lowers the possibility of bending, impact and surface damage.

The stacking quantity and arrangement can be adjusted according to the profile shape, finished length and required number of pieces per bundle.

Automatic Packing and Product Discharge

When the preset quantity has been collected, the grouped profiles are transferred to the packing section.

Depending on the customer’s requirements, the production line can be equipped with manual strapping, semi-automatic bundling or a more highly automated packing system.

After bundling, the finished profiles can be transferred to the unloading area through a roller or chain conveyor.

Proper packing prevents the profiles from becoming loose during storage and transportation and reduces the risk of deformation.

By connecting roll forming, cutting, conveying, turning, counting, stacking and packing equipment, the line creates a continuous production process from galvanized steel sheet feeding to finished-bundle discharge.

PLC Automatic Control System

The complete CU drywall profile roll forming production line is controlled by a PLC system with a touch-screen interface.

The operator can set the production length, production quantity, bundle quantity and other operating parameters through the control panel.

Sensors installed at different working stations detect the position and quantity of the profiles and send signals to the control system.

The PLC coordinates the roll forming machine, conveyors, turning devices, counting system and stacking equipment according to the preset program.

Centralized control helps the different working sections operate in sequence and makes it easier to adjust production parameters.

Suitable Raw Material

The production line mainly uses galvanized steel sheet as the raw material.

The exact sheet thickness, width, zinc coating and steel strength should be confirmed according to the customer’s profile drawings and product standards.

Suitable raw material helps ensure stable roll forming performance and consistent finished-profile dimensions and surface quality.
