Uncoiling and Material Feeding

The metal coil is released smoothly by the decoiler and guided into the production line.

The feeding position can be adjusted according to the material width, keeping the sheet aligned with the correct centerline. Accurate feeding reduces material deviation and provides stable conditions for punching and continuous roll forming.

Automatic Punching System

According to the final product requirements, the production line can be equipped with an automatic punching system before the forming section.

Hole shape, spacing, quantity, and position can be designed based on the customer’s product drawings. After the material is guided into position, punching is completed according to the preset PLC parameters before the sheet enters the main forming section.

Punching the material while it is still flat helps maintain accurate hole positions and reduces separate drilling or secondary punching work. The automatic punching system also improves production efficiency and ensures consistent hole positions during batch production.

Progressive Multi-Stage Roll Forming

The forming section is the core of the complete Hat Purlin Production Line.

The machine is equipped with multiple sets of high-precision forming rollers. The metal sheet passes through several forming stations and gradually forms the bottom, sidewalls, flanges, and complete hat-shaped cross-section.

Unlike one-step bending, progressive roll forming changes the shape of the material gradually. This distributes stress more evenly throughout the sheet and helps reduce twisting, springback, deformation, and surface damage.

The front roller stations guide and pre-form the material, creating the basic profile shape. The middle stations continue to form the bottom width, overall height, side angles, and flange dimensions. The final stations correct and calibrate the cross-section so that the finished hat purlin closely matches the required drawing.

High-Precision Forming Rollers

Each roller set is designed according to the customer’s hat purlin profile drawing.

A properly developed roller contour controls the profile width, height, flange dimensions, and forming angles. This helps produce a clear and symmetrical cross-section while improving dimensional consistency during continuous batch production.

The Hat Purlin Forming Rollers are precision-machined and can receive suitable surface treatment according to the raw material. Good hardness and wear resistance help reduce roller wear and maintain stable forming performance during long-term production.

Profile Dimension Control

The bottom width, overall height, flange dimensions, and forming angles of the hat purlin are mainly controlled by the roller design and the forming angle at each stage.

During machine development, the engineering team determines the required number of forming stations and the deformation amount at every stage according to the profile shape, material thickness, and material strength.

By controlling the bending process step by step, the machine helps reduce springback and deformation caused by excessive local stress, allowing the finished profile to match the customer’s drawing more accurately.

This progressive forming method is suitable for hat purlins requiring stable dimensions, symmetrical cross-sections, and consistent batch quality.

PLC Automatic Control System

The complete Hat Purlin Roll Forming Machine uses a PLC automatic control system for centralized management of material feeding, punching, roll forming, and cutting.

Operators can set the product length, production quantity, punching parameters, and machine operating parameters through the control cabinet while checking the current production status.

The cutting length can be freely adjusted according to different order requirements. The machine automatically measures and cuts the profile based on the preset data entered into the PLC system.

This control method reduces manual measurement, adjustment, and operating errors, making it easier to produce hat purlins in different lengths while improving production efficiency and batch consistency.
